Guatemalan Farm Partnerships:
Finca Kampura
Kampura is a private estate located in Izabal. It is part of our selection of unique origins since they use agroforestry for the cultivation of their cocoa and are committed to the reforestation of the lands that have served for livestock in Izabal.
Their commitment to the workers, the quality of the cocoa and the land are based on love, and this is felt when you walk around the farm and everyone smiles, among them a large group of women cultivate the land together with the men, they have found a dignified alternative to help support their families in a country where women are not considered for this type of work.
Finca Polochic
The Polochic Valley is located in the department of Alta Verapaz, about 3 hours from the Atlantic Ocean. It has great importance in Guatemala due to its location, located just outside one of Guatemala's most important nature reserves, Sierra de las Minas, which is considered Guatemala's most important water reserve, as it has more water sources in its surroundings than anywhere else in Guatemala.
It is also known for the great biological variety of mammals, birds and pines unique to the area. The cocoa beans they grow in this area are known for their nutty and caramel flavors, as well as their small, easy-to-ferment and dry beans.
Finca La Cruz
La Cruz is an agroforestry farm that has belonged to the Valenzuela family since the late nineteenth century. Within the farm there are about 25 hectares of cocoa. The farm is a blend between its original forests of more than 40 years, a diverse collection of fruit trees mixed with criollo cacao.
Among its productive forests we can find old and young cocoa trees, some with orchids growing from their branches that magnify the floral notes of the seeds of this farm. Because of its commitment to the conservation of its forests and its natural agronomy practices, we consider that Finca La Cruz belongs to the Good Cocoa movement.
Finca Kokoa family Chub Leal
Located in the village forests to the paradisiacal lagoon of Lachuá, Alta Verapáz we find a cooperative of families dedicated to the planting of fine aroma cocoa in an organic and organized way. In this area we find one of the most exotic cocoas in the world: the white cocoa bean.
Perfectionists in their fermentation and drying processes have found the right formulas to process each sector of the farms. We are proud to see how year after year cocoa is not only a source of work for the communities but also directly responsible for the well- being of the area's ecosystem.
